Why I can't and won't stop Occupying! Part 3

How to take action.

There are people who are being bold and brave. The winds of change are being fanned by the Occupy Movement - and it is starting to shift.  Last week the Attorney General in MA filed suit against the big banks! Finally someone with balls (a woman) is standing up to the banks and holding them accountable for some of what has been going on...here's the link to the story.

If you want to "Occupy"  - it doesn't mean you have to demonstrate or march - you can take even a small step.  If you feel banks should be held more accountable - call Attorney General Martha Coakley's office and let her know you support what she is doing (617) 727-2200 (I did and I encouraged other people I know to do the same). She is to be commended! All you do is call and ask for the comment line. You could also call the Attorney General in your own state (which we plan to do) and ask them to follow her lead.

Or you can do other things.  Follow Occupy on Facebook (Occupy Wall Street, Occupy LA or a movement in your own city) and if/when you're ready go to a march if you can make the time (which we also do).  Trust me, that doesn't mean we are in the mood to go to some of the marches (some of the time it's  at night after work) but we feel it is our DUTY to become more active because of the shape the country is in.  For us - - we want to make it entirely clear to any elected official and to the media that we are sick of the amount of influence corporations have, their lobbyists etc.  It has just gotten too out of balance.

And if you do go to a march, make your own sign - - take one that says what YOU are most upset about and what you want to support.  No one will tell you what to do - we've done it multiple times and we've never felt more energized about Democracy.

Our signs say things like:

WE ARE THE 99%

I AM HERE BECAUSE WASHINGTON IS BROKEN

THIS IS THE BEGINNING

Remember this is a time where lobbying groups have already mobilized with huge sums of money to smear the Occupy movement. They are already successfully altering what you are hearing. Unfortunately, that is the world we are living in - where people pay each other to say things that aren't really even true. To spin things, to slant things...with absolutely no regard for the truth or the overall welfare of the country.

To me it has all become very Penn State. Protect those in power and uphold the money and institution – at all costs – no matter who gets hurt. There's just no excuse for what is going on in Washington between politicians, lobbyists and corporate greed. It is mind boggling to me when I look at the fallout from it across the country.

I personally no longer care about liberal or conservative. I consider myself liberal but I am fine with conservative beliefs - we can figure out how to co-exist in this country. However, what we cannot do is put up with a governing body that isn't listening to any of us (and they aren't) they are only listening to big money.

So if not Occupy then who?

Who do you think is going to fight this battle for the 99%?
Do you think Washington or the mainstream media are going to do it?
Who beyond Occupy is taking any true, dramatic action?

We both know the answer...and meanwhile, the country keeps floundering.

This is why I can't and won't stop Occupying.
