Well guess what....the whole project blew major chunks so I had to spend another half hour trying to get glue and sparkles off my shades.

Wow...how time flys when you are (avoiding) doing all these important projects.

I'm just so exhausted I may have to take a break and go to starbux - to keep the creative juices flowing.

Avoidance 2

So, today instead of sitting right down to my song, I decided I needed to customize my Gucci aviators. I love them but they're a little too dark and ominous....

I mean how can I really approach my music seriously if my shades aren't right?

So I had to pull out the old crafts box and spread it alllll over the kitchen counter.

I am only part way through the project and of course this is a must before I can really settle into my song today.

Understand? I thought you would...

Avoidance

Early on I discovered that on certain days it is incredibly hard to settle into creativity. Be it making music or painting or writing a story....I can't always easily drop down to that place (it's a process). For years I have laughed about how one minute I am working on something (and resisting) and the next minute I find myself cleaning the toilet....or something absurd like that.  It's always "one more thing, one more thing....I just need to move that pillow on the couch....THEN I can get to my art".....really comical...pure raw unadulterated avoidance.

So today.....I opened this song on my laptop but I decided I had to wear my cool shoes in order to work on this song....and then I needed some make-up fake tan on my legs....cause they're too white....and THEN I really needed to take a picture and talk about it on this blog.....

You see how this goes.....

I am now officially publicly declaring....I am going back to my song....I swear it.

My new journal...

Got it at Pulp in LA....small enough to carry in the purse but still large enough to scrawl stuff when I'm on a roll with a song or a thought.

My first entry was about Oprah....and her show ending after 25 years....mind boggling how many lives she's touched.

I was talking to her in a dream the other night. I figure that can only be a good thing - to be in touch with my "inner Oprah"....
