The Mandeville Hotel, London

Really cute hotel....great room.

Mandeville Hotel

London has something beautiful or interesting in every nook and cranny. Can't say enough good things about the Mandeville Hotel where we have been staying. The location is fantastic and it is surrounded by great small streets and shops beyond the usual tourist fare.

We happened into a great bar right on the Thames. It's right between the Tate and National Theater and there's a little sign about a "bar on the top floor" so I knew we had to check it out. Only 8 floors up but perfect for an Incredible view, dessert and a bit of Moet....on a rainy day.

What can I say....they had me at hello!

My New Uggs

Got these right before our trip (broke my rule of not breaking in new shoes all at once) buuuuuut they have been fabulous! Not one blister and yesterday was a 6 mile day.

I don't do alot of conventional large store shopping....but Nordstrom has been blowing my mind with their service.  They are the ONLY organization I know of where you can call and the phone rings three times and you get a freakin person.  I'm sort of all about supporting them if only for that.  But actually I got some other basic items there like tees and tops to layer....jeans when I need them....these Uggs - which are soooooo comfortable!

Everything at the Tate Modern is gorgeous. We're here for the Gauguin show and this pic is from part of the placemat in the cafe.

They really do it up for the arts over here...they understand the importance of it in their culture and it shows.

Thx kanye....your lyrics are in my head everytime I put on this fantastic Dior coat.

Truthfully I almost got rid of this coat...gorgeous full length and lambswool...but who needs that in Los Angeles and I felt like the color wasn't doin it for me.

However...I absolutely love it now and it has kept me warm and fine here in rainy London...the angeleno who gets cold under 70 degrees!

Princess Diana

There is this beautiful area in Hyde Park by the Serpentine where there is a Diana Memorial Fountain. I felt compelled to pay my respects....funny how someone captures the imagination of the world...it's beyond anything you can really put into words.

So we sat in this beautiful area...near a lake (her fountain wasn't on maybe because it was after closing) still it was very peaceful and beautiful.

Ahhhhhh....pub life....we have been running all day and now we get to fall into a traditional pub. This one is independent and does their brewing. We're drinking a lager and a bitter and they are both fabulous!

London Day 3

So I've defintely decided I love London....to me it is a hybrid of Paris and NYC.

It started raining at one point today and we ducked into this little tiny courtyard....the light was beyond sensational.

Mucho tourist stuff

Heading to the Tate Modern....took the tube down here to London Bridge Station to meet a friend - - - totally easy. Can't help but think of how difficult it is to get around Los Angeles....as a tourist....can't imagine trying to navigate there from another country. Ate breakfast at a little hippie artsy place. Noticing a lot of people drink coca-cola here (same in Paris) difference is....they don't add high fructose corn syrup to it - just normal sugar - which just isn't as hard on the body.

Ohhhhh my dear sweet USA...how did we lose our way? Greed?
